What working here is like
Elbi is one product with a long surface: two languages, speech, documents, retrieval, a live agent portal and a set of system connections. Nobody here works on a narrow slice of it for long, and the work is closer to engineering than to configuration.
A large share of the difficulty is Arabic. Most of the tooling in this field was built for English and adapted afterwards, which means the interesting problems — dialect, mixed-language input, retrieval that works on how people actually write — do not have off-the-shelf answers.
We care more about judgement than about a particular stack. Somebody who can tell the difference between a measurement and a number is more useful here than somebody who knows one framework very well.
The kind of people who do well here
Native Arabic judgement
Being able to tell that a sentence is grammatically correct and still reads as though it was written in English first. No score captures that.
Comfortable being wrong
Most of what we have learned came from something shipping and failing. That only works if people say so quickly.
Suspicious of clean results
A test that passes on the first run deserves more scrutiny than one that fails. Several of our worst bugs hid behind green.
Writes clearly
A great deal of this job is explaining a technical constraint to somebody who has to make a commercial decision about it.
Finishes things
The gap between working and finished is where most of the value is, and it is the part people skip.
Takes governance seriously
In this sector the compliance conversation is not overhead. It is the reason the project is allowed to exist.

The roles open now are senior, but we would rather take somebody early and teach them the domain than hire for a keyword. Write to us either way.
