WhatsApp AI chatbot for business in Saudi Arabia

Your customers already message you on WhatsApp. Elbi answers them in Arabic and English from your own documents, and passes the conversation to your team when a person is needed.

WhatsApp Business PlatformArabic & EnglishHandover to your team

In Saudi Arabia, WhatsApp is where customers expect a reply first. That makes it the channel where a slow or wrong answer costs the most. Elbi is the assistant behind the channel: it reads your approved material, answers from it, and knows when to hand over.

What we connect, and what we don't pretend

WhatsApp connectivity is set up per project, on the official WhatsApp Business Platform, and is not one of the ready-made connectors on our integrations map. We say that plainly because it shapes the project. You either bring an existing WhatsApp Business Platform account through the provider you already use, or we scope one with you.

Elbi is the layer behind the number. That means the answers built from your documents, the Arabic and English handling, the rules about what may be answered and what must be escalated, and the handover to your people with the conversation attached. It is the same assistant you would run on your website, so the knowledge and rules are not rebuilt when a customer arrives through a different door.

How a WhatsApp conversation is handled

  1. The customer messages your business numberThe message arrives through the WhatsApp Business Platform, on a verified business account and a dedicated number.
  2. The language is settledArabic script means an Arabic reply, including Saudi dialect and mixed Arabic-English messages. A one-word "ok" does not flip the language.
  3. The question is matched against your materialPolicies, price lists, branch details, procedures: the content you approved. Where your documents are silent, the reply says so instead of guessing.
  4. The reply is checked, then sentBefore it goes out, the answer is checked for claims your material does not support and for personal data that should not be repeated back.
  5. Voice notes and photos, where scopedSaudi customers send voice notes and pictures of documents. Speech-to-text and file understanding can be included in the project scope so these are read, not ignored.
  6. "I want to speak to someone" is an instructionThe conversation moves to your team with its history, so the customer does not repeat themselves.

Where a WhatsApp assistant earns its place

Order and booking status

"Where is my order?" and "Is my appointment confirmed?" are the bulk of WhatsApp traffic for many businesses. Fast answers here remove the most avoidable contact.

Prices and availability

Questions people will not phone about, but will leave over. Answered from the price list you keep current, not from memory.

Branches and opening hours

Locations, hours during Ramadan and holidays, what each branch offers. Simple, high-volume, and easy to get wrong when nobody updated the reply.

Eligibility and documents

Who qualifies, which papers to bring, what happens next. Long answers customers would rather read at their own pace.

After hours

A large share of WhatsApp messages arrive when the team has gone home. The assistant covers those hours and leaves a clean hand-off for the morning.

First triage

Even when a person must handle the case, the assistant can collect the order number and the problem first, so your agent starts with facts.

The WhatsApp rules that shape the design

WhatsApp is not a website chat with a green logo. Its platform rules decide what an assistant can and cannot do, and a good project is designed around them from day one.

Business Platform, not the appThe free WhatsApp Business app on a phone cannot be connected to anything. An AI assistant needs the WhatsApp Business Platform: a verified business, a dedicated number and the platform operator's terms.
The customer service windowAfter a customer messages you, you can reply freely for a limited time. Outside that window, only pre-approved message templates may be sent, and only to people who opted in.
Opt-inProactive messages need the customer's permission. This decides whether reminders and follow-ups are possible at all, so it belongs in the plan, not the launch week.
ChargesWhatsApp messaging is charged by the platform operator according to its own pricing. That cost sits alongside the assistant, not inside it.
Display name and verificationYour business name on WhatsApp is reviewed by the platform. Allow for it in the timeline.

We cover these in more depth in our guide, AI chatbots on WhatsApp Business for Saudi companies.

Data: what is ours to control, and what isn't

Messages on WhatsApp travel through WhatsApp's own platform, under its operator's terms. That part is not ours to control, and any vendor who says otherwise is not being straight with you.

What Elbi controls is everything behind it: your documents, how answers are built from them, what may never be said, and how long conversation content is kept on our side. By default, message content is kept for no longer than 24 hours. For regulated sectors, read our security and compliance page before choosing which questions should be answered on WhatsApp and which should move to a channel you fully control.

Why Arabic on WhatsApp is harder than it looks

People write on WhatsApp the way they talk. That means Saudi dialect, short messages, English product names inside Arabic sentences, and voice notes instead of typing. An assistant tuned on formal Arabic will understand the polished questions and miss the real ones.

Elbi matches questions against how customers actually phrase them, in both languages, and replies in the language of the latest message. Ask any vendor to show you that with your own customers' messages, not a demo script.

What to ask any WhatsApp chatbot vendor

Is it the official platform?

Unofficial tools that automate a phone app risk the number being banned. Ask which platform and which account owns the number.

Who owns the number?

Your business should own the WhatsApp account and number, so you can change vendors without losing your customers' chat history and trust.

Ask it something you never told it

A good assistant declines and offers a person. A weak one invents a fluent answer.

Send a voice note in dialect

Then a mixed Arabic-English message. That is what your customers will do on day one.

Ask about the 24-hour window

How replies, follow-ups and escalation work when the window has closed.

Ask what the agent sees

When the conversation reaches a person, does the full history arrive with it?

How a project usually runs

Start with the questions, not the channel. Take a month of your real WhatsApp messages and sort them: answerable from documents, needs a lookup in a system, needs a person. That sorting decides the scope, the documents to prepare and where escalation sits relative to the reply window.

Then set up or connect the WhatsApp Business Platform account, connect Elbi to your approved material, write down what it must never say, and test with real messages in dialect before launch. Read the transcripts weekly for the first month. Customers will ask things nobody predicted, and those transcripts are the best guide to what to improve.

Common questions

No. The free WhatsApp Business app runs on a phone and has no programmatic access. An AI assistant needs the WhatsApp Business Platform, which means a verified business account and a dedicated number.

No. WhatsApp is set up per project on the official platform, with the provider you already use or one we scope together. Elbi provides the assistant behind the number.

It understands Saudi dialect and mixed Arabic-English messages, and replies in Arabic or English to match the customer. The tone and formality of replies are set by you.

Voice notes can be transcribed and answered when speech-to-text is included in the project scope.

Only within WhatsApp's rules: pre-approved templates, to customers who opted in. Whether that fits your use case is decided during scoping.

By asking. "I want to speak to someone" moves the conversation to your team with its full history.

There are two parts: WhatsApp's own messaging charges, set by the platform operator, and the Elbi assistant. Talk to us with your expected message volume and we will scope both.

Put Elbi behind your WhatsApp number

Bring a sample of real customer messages and we will show you how they would be answered, in both languages.
